How do I change the local access number my computer uses to dial in?


Please find below step by step instructions for changing your access number for various types of dialup software.

How to Change the Dialup Number in Windows XP:

1) Click the Start button
2) Select Connect to
3) Right-click the AzNET connection
4) Select Properties
5) Change the access phone number in the middle under the "General" tab.
6) Click OK to save your changes.

How to Change the Dialup Number in Windows ME:

1) Click the Start button
2) Select Dial-up Networking
3) Right-click the AzNET connection
4) Select Properties
5) Change the access phone number at the top under the "General" tab.
6) Click OK to save your changes.

How to Change the Dialup Number in Windows 2000:

NOTE: You will need to be logged in as "administrator" to make these changes.
1) Click the Start button, select Settings and then Control Panel.
2) Inside the Control Panel window, double click on the "Network and Dialup Connections" icon.
3) In the "Network and Dialup Connections" window, right click on your connection icon.
4) Select Properties from the popup menu.
5) Under the General tab, you will see the phone number your computer is using to dial in.
6) Delete the old number and type in the new one.
7) Click "OK" as needed to exit out of the windows and save your changes.

How to Change The Dialup Number in Windows 95/98:

1) Go to your Windows desktop
2) Double-click on "My Computer"
3) Double-click on "Dial Up Networking"
4) Right (opposite) click your icon
5) In the pop-up menu, select "Properties"
6) Highlight and erase the old number
7) Type in the new number and click "OK"
8) Connect as usual
NOTE: You'll only have to make this change once; clicking "OK" saves the
changes.

How to Change The Dialup Number on a Macintosh using OS X:

NOTE: You will need to be logged in as 'administrator' or a user with admin privileges, to change network settings
1) Open your Applications folder (double click your hard drive icon and click on "Applications" in the top menu bar.
2) Launch "Internet Connect" by double clicking on the Internet Connect icon.
3) At the bottom click the "Edit..." button (which is beside "These settings can be changed in Network Preferences").
4) In the new window that will appear titled "Network", click the PPP tab if it is not already up, look for the box titled "Telephone Number", and enter the new access phone number.
5) Click "Apply Now" to make your changes permanent and you are finished.

How to Change The Dialup Number on a Macintosh using Remote Access (Mac OS 8 and 9:)

1) Click on the "Apple" in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Then select the "Control Panel" entry.
2) Find the "Remote Access" entry within the "Control Panel" tab and click on
it once.
3) In the "Number" field of the "Remote Access" window, highlight and delete
the old number, and replace the old dialup number with the new one.
Then click on the close window button in the upper left hand corner of the
"Remote Access" window and when prompted, click the "Save Changes" button.
NOTE: This only needs to be done one time.

How to Change The Dialup Number on a Macintosh using FreePPP software:

1) Locate the telephone icon on the upper right-hand side of your Macintosh
desktop, in the menu bar along the top of the screen.
2) Click the icon to display the pop-down menu and select "FreePPP Setup"
3) Click on the tab reading "Accounts"
4) Click on the AzNET option and click "Edit"
5) In the "Phone Number" box, delete the existing number and type in your new
number.
6) Click "OK" to save your changes and exit.
NOTE: This only needs to be done one time

How to Change The Dialup Number on a Macintosh using ConfigPPP or MacPPP:

1) Click on the "Apple" in the upper left hand corner of your screen.
Select the "Control Panel" entry.
2) Find either the "ConfigPPP" or "PPP" entry and select it.
3) Depending on which control panel you're using, click on either the "Config"
or "Options" tab or button.
4) Delete the old number in the "Phone num" box, and type in the new number.
5) Click "OK" to save your changes and exit.
